Map

12 July 1993. NLA air photography.
Ring ditch within area of NHER 31172 (Early Saxon cemetery) with anomaly at its centre.
M. Brennand (NLA), 26 January 2001.

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmark of ring ditch visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1) and NLA oblique aerial photographs from 1993 (S2). It measures 30m in diameter and the ditch is between 1-2m wide. Several elongated internal features or pits can be identified, the largest being 6m by 1.5m, centred on TG 0735 4056. It is possible that these are grave pits relating to a Bronze Age barrow site within the ring ditch. However this area of the field has also been identified as the possible site of a Pagan Saxon cemetery (NHER 31172), so it is possible that these elongated pits relate to Saxon burial activity, possibly associated with the re-use and appropriation of an existing barrow.
S. Massey (NMP), 23 December 2002.
