A possible medieval saltern is visible as an earthwork and cropmark at TF 6407 2584, northwest of North Wootton.
If this is a saltern, it is one of a large number in this area.
The mound was also apparently incorporated into a later sea defence as there is a length of sea bank attached to its south side.
