Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1948 and 1967 show the earthwork of a probable medieval saltern mound. It is one of a large number in the area, and was later incorporated into a sea defence bank.

A probable medieval saltern is visible as an earthwork and soilmark at TF 6389 2575, northwest of North Wootton.
The mound is one of a large group in this area and was apparently incorporated into a later sea defence, banks extending from its east and west ends.
