A probable medieval saltern is visible as an earthwork and soilmark at TF 6384 2507, northwest of North Wootton.
The mound is one of a large group in this area.

The mound was initially mapped by Andy Miller, and only the eastern end of the mound has been extended, as viewed on 1958 RAF images (S2). The mound is now sub-rounded in plan, with a maximum diameter of 92m.
