Map

1944 and 1948. RAF air photography.
A sea bank is visible as an earthwork, soilmarks and on Ordnance Survey maps, extending from TF 6438 2637 to at least TF 6337 2488, northeast of North Wootton.
The bank joins a probable medieval or post medieval bank at its north end, is not marked on (S1), and is apparently recorded on (S2), implying that it is post medieval in date.
A. Miller (Suffolk County Council NMP), 30 June 2000.

At TF64122649, the point where this bank meets the leat that forms the parish boundary, (S1) has 'New Sluice' written.
In 2003 a member of the public brought to NLA a photograph showing a brick structure with an iron plate on top at this point. Samples of the bricks were submitted, both are late post medieval handmade and may be of two different dates, but 1732 would fit both.
E. Rose (NLA), 11 July 2005.
