May 2002. Excavation.
Excavation of site on course of Anglian Water North Pickenham to West Bradenham Supply Main. This site was selected for excavation due to its proximity to the Peddars Way (NHER 1289)
Forty features were excavated, including a number of pits, linear features and post holes with some curvilinear gullies and associated post holes, possibly forming some king of entrance-way or enclosure. One large pit contained quantities of struck flint, probably knapping waste, of prehistoric date in its fill, and some irregurlar pits may have been dug to quarry sand or gravel.
At the south end of the site, some cable trenches and a small sub-square rubble-filled feature related to the World War Two airfield immediately to the west of the excavated area.
