Full Description
Ruined building, apparently a field barn, containing huge amounts of reused medieval limestone, mostly carved. Brick detailing appears 19th century; this may suggest material came from the so-called 'Slipper Chapel' when it was restored in the 19th century, rather than from Walsingham. However, a more probable source is the Abbey Barn at Barsham (NHER 12242). Seen only in passing from road.
E. Rose (NLA), 6 June 2002.
May 2002.
Set of colour photographs in file show details of stonework, including roll-moulded arch segments and blocks with Sussex marigolds and other graffiti.
See (S1).
E. Rose (NLA), 6 June 2002
Not shown on tithe (S2) or Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch (S3) maps.
D. Robertson (NLA), 8 May 2008.
