Summary

The southern part of this field was subject to systematic fieldwalking in 2001. The relatively small number of finds recovered included a single sherd of Roman pottery; medieval and post-medieval pottery and a clay tobacco pipe stem. Metal-detecting across a much larger area between 2010 and 2017 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and jettons and several other metal objects, including a Late Bronze Age socketed gouge, a Late Saxon bracelet fragment, a medieval buckle, scabbard chape and buckle plate and an undatable unidentified object.
