Summary

Ye Old Yew Tree is a late 16th century L-shaped timber framed house, with ornate detailing, two original windows, and the original roof. It was extended to the north around 1700, 19th century alterations converted it to a public house, and further work was undertaken around 1980.

Listing Description excerpt:
"17th century. Stuccoed. Steeply pitched pantile roof with gable ends. Two storeys and attic. Three windows. First floor two-light casements. Ground floor three-light casements. Central moulded doorcase with cornice hood on shaped brackets. Right hand later addition one storey, one window."

Building only seen in part and briefly, but clearly an important late 16th century L-shaped timber framed house, with stack at angle, two storeys and attic. Altered in 18th and 19th century.

January 2003.
Detailed inspection showed that the original L-shaped building has ornate detailing, two original windows, and the original roof. It was extended to the north around 1700, still timber framed. 19th century alterations converted it to a public house and further work was done around 1980.

The mapped location of this record has been corrected. Previously it was erroneous located on the building immediately to the west (Yew Tree Cottage).
