Map

January 2001. NMP.
Three chevron shaped features and a short linear feature are visible on 1972 aerial photographs (S1) between TF 7701 4519 and TF 7707 4521. They appear to be structures, possibly made up of a number of small blocks. The features are also visible on 1945 aerial photographs (S2 and S3), but are less clear than on the 1972 aerial photographs. They are also visible on 1950 aerial photographs (S4), but again not so clearly. Although they may be connected with the World War Two activity at sites just to the south, it is more likely that they form some form of sea defence, possibly a kind of breakwater to protect the exposed northwest corner of the wall surrounding the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club site.
A. Hunt (NMP), 26 January 2001.
