Full Description
January 2001. NMP.
A number of bomb craters are visible as earthworks in the area of TF 7644, on 1945 aerial photographs (S1 & S2). There are 2 or 3 craters in the inter-tidal zone, 2 just on the edge of the saltmarsh and a north to south line of 7 craters at TF 7623 4492 - TF 7621 4484. Due to their location on the coast, these craters most likely represent returning World War Two bombers dumping their excess weapons. The craters are further evidence of the World War Two activity in this area.
A. Hunt (NMP), 26 January 2001.
