Map

February 2001. NMP.
A ditched feature can be seen as a cropmark at TF 717 432 on 1977 aerial photographs (S1). The main component of the site is a rectilinear ditch, which abuts a field boundary to the north. The ditch is about 10m wide, with the feature measuring about 40m by 70m. Within this ditch enclosed area is an irregular oval shaped depression, about 20m across. A small circular cropmark can also be seen, between the oval feature and the eastern side of the ditch. The function and date of this set of features is not clear. The fact that the 'enclosure' ditch is regular would suggest a fairly modern date, added to which nothing appears in this loaction on the historic maps of the area.
A. Hunt (NMP), 5 February 2001.
