Summary

The cropmarks of a possible ring ditch, potentially of Bronze Age date, are visible on aerial photographs. This ring ditch may represent a Bronze Age barrow site, or perhaps due to its large size and causeways, a late Neolithic to early Bronze Age barrow or even hengiform monument. However, it must be borne in mind that this area has many geological features which can appear like ring ditches, so some caution over the origin of the cropmarks must applied to this site.

Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible large ring ditch, centred on TF 8123 4317, are visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). It has a diameter of 52m and the ditches appear to be between 1 to 2m wide. There appears to be opposing causeways, one to the northwest and another to the southeast. The eastern causeway is extremely wide, measuring 30m across.
