Map

November 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Group of cut features and channels into the River Burn, visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1), centred on TF 8438 4243. These are rectangular in shape and appear to form a series of small cuts alongside the river. These are between 2.5m and 5m across and may be for mooring/docking boats. They may be related with the water management system associated with the post medieval mill to the north NHER 1772. Although these are two segmented to be associated with a mill leat. It is possible that they are associated with the movement of industrial material, possible related to quarrying or the railway. The actual channel and cuts have not been mapped, as only partial elements can be seen on the 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1). However, the 2nd edition map (1902-7, 25") (S3) shows a full plan.
S. Massey (NMP), 22 November 2002.
