Map

February 2001. Norfolk NMP.
A series of areas around TF 83 44 can be seen to contain a number of short sections of ditch on 1946 aerial photography (S1 and S2). The ditches form a similar pattern to that of ridge and furrow, but it is more fragmented. These ditches would appear to form some sort of drainage system, as this land is located between two areas of reclaimed land enclosed by sea defence banks (NHER 26670 and 27031). It is possible that the ditch features may have been an earlier attempt to reclaim this area of land. The dating of these features is quite difficult, as they appear to be modern, yet may be traces of post medieval land reclamation attempts.
A. Hunt (Suffolk CC NMP), 1 February 2001.
