Map

August 2002. Norfolk NMP)
Cropmarks of possible circular enclosure or large ring ditch visible within crop in Hunstanton Park on 1945 RAF aerial photographs (S1).
The site appears to be an enclosure 75.5m in diameter, only half of which can be seen, due to woodland cover to the west. The ditches are between 1-2m wide. Within the eastern half, centred on TF 6877 4124 is a possible rectilinear enclosure co-joined to the outer ditch. This feature appears to be 22m by approximately 15m. The archaeological origin of these cropmarks is not clear, as the marks lack clarity and seem quite blurred around the edges of the feature.
A similar feature is visible at TF 6895 4112 (NHER 26940), although the possibility remains that the site is archaeological and therefore it may be of late prehistoric date, potentially relating to settlement. Although it is possible that it is related to activity within the Park.
S. Massey (NMP), 27 August 2002.
