Map

July 2001. Norfolk NMP.
Earthwork of a curvilinear ditched feature, visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1), which appears to correspond with those existing plantation boundaries at the southern edge of Hunstanton Park. The ditch is approximately 135m long and up to 5m wide and has two right-angled stretches of ditch, which also turn in to join the edge of the modern woodland limits. It is likely that this curving linear is an old plantation boundary. The ditch may have once had a fence or pale alongside it and the width of the feature could imply that it would have served a stock management function, probably reurvey verticals (S2) and the ditch is not visible as a cropmark on any later photos.
S. Massey (NMP), 6 July 2001.
