Map

July 2001. Norfolk NMP.
At TF 6814 4028 is a single ditched rectilinear enclosure, visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1-2). The main body of the enclosure appears to be approximately 60m square, although the ditches seem to continue to the south towards the modern field boundary. A subdividing ditch forms the square appearance of the enclosure interior. This ditch only appears to run into the centre of the enclosure, at which point the clarity of the cropmark declines. It may be that the ditch stops at this point. To the north, at TF 6812 4033, is a linear feature with the same alignment and axis as the enclosure. It may be they are part of the same enclosure system. To the east of these features, at TF 6821 4032, is a second, possible enclosure. It appears to be part of a square enclosure, 17m across. To the east are two parallel linears. These enclosures are recording in the NMR database as TF 64 SE 25. Reference is made to an associated field system to the west and north. The field system referred to cannot be identified as such, however, several linear elements can be identified (centred at TF 6812 4045 and TF 6807 4055), although they may be confused with the geological patterning that covers the field. The morphology of these enclosures would suggest that they are likely to be late Iron Age to Romano-British in date, representing settlement and associated fields.
