Map

July 2001. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmark of a possible ditched, rectilinear enclosure, visible on 1967 OS aerial photographs (S1). It is 60m long, up to 39m wide and the ditches all appear to be approximately 2m wide. The western side of the enclosure cannot be discerned with any certainty, it is possible that it continues south and meets with the corresponding ditch, although the cropmark is very faint at this point. There also appears to be a 10m wide gap in the south-east corner ditch. Both of these features may be due to geology masking the ditches. This enclosure is situated within the broad scatter of Romano-British and Medieval material (NHER 29563 and 1115). It is possible that the ‘rubbish’ filled trenches described in NHER 1270 (NMR TF 34), relate to these ditches, although this cannot be proved.
S. Massey (NMP), 4 July 2001.
