Summary

White Lodge is a large house, which appears to date to the mid 18th century. However, the west gable wall indiactes it may be a small medieval or early post-medieval house which was raised in height around 1600 and 1686, and refaced in the 18th century.

January 1973. Listed, Grade II.
"House. Mid 18th century. Painted flint and brick; pantile roofs. Two wings arranged in L-shape. Exterior: north front of two storeys and attic in seven-window range. Centre three bays broken forward beneath pediment. Half-glazed central door within timber doorcase with pediment...Low parapet…Gabled roof with two flat-topped dormers...Ridge stack left of centre and external gable-end stack to west, rebuilt [in] 20th century...East side of south wing is four-window range lit through sashes of various dispositions. In angle between wings is a two-storey 20th-century extension. Interior: stick-baluster staircase with ramped handrail. North range with chamfered bridging beams with tongue stops at first floor. East room with late 18th-century timber fire surround decorated with plaster Greek figures in frieze. Roof of principals and one tier of taper-tenoned butt purlins."
