Summary

This timber framed house was built during the 17th century, converted into cottages in the 18th century and developed into a single property during the 20th century. The external walls are faced in 18th century bricks. A 20th century fireplace includes a 17th century timber with apotropaic markings.

April 1983. Listed, Grade II.
17th century lobby entrance house coverted to cottages in the 18th century and back to a house in the 20th century.
Originally timber framed as shown by returned south gable wall. The external walls are now 18th century brick on 17th century plinth. 17th century floor beams with run out stops; 18th century roof on older tiebeams. Original stack with stair; one original fireplace with ovolo moulded and bar stopped bressumer.

Photographs (S2) supplied vis South Norfolk District Council 2002 show this fireplace which has 18th/19th century brick jambs in front of the original back. A second fireplace is totally 20th century, but reuses a 17th century bressumer with many 'poker burns' (apotropaic markings).
