Summary

In 2002 a service trench was dug at this location and a complete basal sherd of a Late Medieval Transitional ware jug was recovered. This example had a finger-pressed pie-crust edge with visible finger-prints.

Late medieval/early post medieval complete basal sherd of Late Medieval Transitional small pedestal jug, with finger-pressed pie-crust edge, see for comparison 18 centuries no. 488, but without handle scar (which may have been present above the break). N.b. very clear finger-prints are visible on the edge (weighing 200g).
Mid 15th-late 16th century.
