Summary

Metal-detecting between 2002 and 2018 recovered prehistoric and Bronze Age flakes; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; aswell as Roman, Early Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman nail and pin; an Early Saxon brooch; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments, a cauldron fragment, and thimble; and post-medieval book clasps, a key and a toy.

Full Description

October-November 2002. Metal-detecting. Area at north end of field.
3 prehistoric/?Bronze Age flint flakes.
2 Roman coins, 1 pin/nail.
Early Saxon brooch fragment (cruciform).
8 medieval pottery sherds (4 unglazed, 4 glazed grimston), 4 buckle frames (inc 1 tinned, 1 from sword belt) and 1 buckle fragment.
1 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherd (LMT), 3 bell/vessel fragments, 1 buckle frame, 1 cauldron foot fragment, 2 ?cauldron foot fragments, 1 thimble and 1 belt mount.
6 post-medieval coins, 2 tokens, 10 jettons, 1 sword belt hooked mount, 2 book clasps, 1 Iron key, 1 lead cloth seal and 1 miniature triple cauldron (childs toy).
10 Undateable lead weights and 1 casting scrap.
