Summary

One sherd of Roman pottery, two scatters of medieval pottery and some post medieval pottery were found during fieldwalking. During the late medieval period there was a wood on the site, but the presence of pottery scatters suggests that for at least some of the medieval period the land was open.

Map

August 2001 and October 2002. Fieldwalking.
On arable in area of late medieval wood and area to east showed a thin scatter of medieval sherds over the southern part of the wood, one minor concentration on a former common edge at the north end. This suggests that the wood, even if 'ancient' was cleared in the late 12th century and remained so for some of the 13th century. Some post medieval pottery and one Roman sherd found.
