Summary

This late 19th-century house is built in a manner imitatating Tudor style. It contains pannelling from St Andrew's Church, dismantled around the same date, and a stone window frame in the garden is of the same provenance.

(S2) in file notes also that the interior contains columns said “ to have been salvaged from one of Nelson’s ships”. It is true that in the early 19th century sections of decommissioned warships were sold off for furnishings of this type. The photograph of the interior suggests similarities with 19th century work in other houses nearby. For example NHER 4657.
