Map

January 2003. Norfolk NMP.
The feature is sub-rounded in plan with a maximum diameter of 22m (S1). The mound itself has a light-coloured, parched appearance with the traces of a narrow ditch on its northern and eastern sides. The mound is situated to the immediate south of the course of a meandering drain, which is presumably itself a canalised saltmarsh channel. The feature is relatively small and appears to be in relative isolation, although there are further isolated saltern mounds on the former saltmarsh to the east. The feature presumably post-dates the Sea Bank (NHER 2187) and is Late Saxon or medieval in date, although an earlier date (Roman?) is not impossible.
M. Brennand (NMP), 6 January 2003.
