Map

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The feature has a sub-rounded figure-of-eight shape in plan (S1), with a north to south length of 96m and a maximum width of 43m. The feature is not as distinct as some of the other saltern sites within the surrounding area and it only remains a possible saltern site.
The feature probably forms part of the dense concentration of saltern mounds located along the saltmarsh in North and South Wootton. Direct dating evidence is scarce but isolated finds of pottery would suggest that the majority of the mounds are medieval in date.
M. Brennand (NMP) 22 October 2002.
