Location

Map sheet TF62SW
Civil Parish KING’S LYNN, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

June 2003. Norfolk NMP.
This site may be the result of salt production processes, but may simply be natural. The northernmost mound is sub-rounded in plan, with a maximum diameter of 54m (S1). The southern mound is slightly more elongated, with a north-east to south-west length of 77m, and a width of 48m.
These mounds are possibly salterns and, along with mound NHER 27893 to the immediate north, are the southernmost production sites within the south Wootton and King’s Lynn saltern group. If these mounds are salterns they are likely to date from the medieval period.
M. Brennand (NMP), 23 June 2003.
