Summary

An aerial photograph of this site from 1967 records the earthworks of a series of linear ditches and banks. These features are probably either late medieval or most likely post medieval in date, and probably represent the land boundaries or drainage ditches. These features appear to have been ploughed by 1977, although they still appear as distinctive earthworks on an aerial photograph from 1998.

Map

August 2001. Norfolk NMP.
There is a large ditch or channel running down the centre of the field, aligned in a north-to-south direction (S1). There are the slight traces of a bank running along the eastern side of this ditch. There are linear ditches either feeding into or running out of this ditch to the east and west. In the northwestern area of the field is a ditched and banked boundary that appears to line up with the features to the north of Manor Lane, recorded under NHER 26621.
These features are probably either late medieval or most likely post medieval in date, and probably represent the land boundaries or drainage ditches. These features appear to have been ploughed in 1977 (S2), although they still appear as distinctive earthworks in 1998 (S3).
M. Brennand (NMP), 15 August 2001.
