22, 24, 26 Millgate.
(S1) calls this former Millgate Stores. Late 18th century and later. Colourwashed brick and hipped pantile roof. Two storeys; three first floor arched sashes above modern shop front. Three plain brick pilasters. Eaves cornice. L shaped gabled with to east with three chimney stacks. Noted in passing in 2004 that the modern shop front has been replaced by domestic windows. The north side of the rear wing, seen from the adjacent gardens, is tall, of red brick with blank or blocked first floor windows; the impression is more like an industrial building. Shown on a map of 1839 kept at no 34.
E. Rose (NLA), 17 February 2004.
