Summary

The demolition of an early 20th century house revealed a few fragments of the medieval stonework from the East Gate. A curving brick wall dating to about 1800 was also found.

Demolition of house of 1903 revealed build-up of that date, containing limestone fragments from the side walls of the East Gate, demolished around 1800. At the base of fill a curving brick wall was found, probably dating to about 1800 (house shown here on (S1)).
