Summary

An early 19th-century three-storey colourwashed building which has timber pilasters and an iron balcony at first floor level that runs the whole length of the façade. To the rear is a large brick extension dated 1833.

"Early 19th century savings bank and offices.
Rendered and colourwashed brick, slate roof. Three storeys, five bays of which the centre three project. Ground floor shopfront divided into five by paired timber pilasters."

This premises was occupied by a tailor in 1830, and by ironmongers from 1835 until 1895. It was also the headquarters of the King's Lynn Insurance Company in 1869 and 1870. From 1895 to 1906 it was a photographic business including a studio. In 1906 it was taken over by the stationer, WH Smith, and remained in their possession until the mid-1970s.
