Summary

An early 19th-century flint and brick house.

Protected Status/Designation

Location

Map sheet TG24SW
Civil Parish CROMER, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

Physically one house, in what was originally Red Lion Street.
Two storeys, pebble flint with flake galletting.
Ground floor has two adjacent doorways between a window.
Of twelve pane sashes each side, all in one brick ensemble; upper floor has one sash window to each house with toothed brick surrounds, all the brickwork was stuccoed until recent years.
Northeast corner is quite remarkable, having a huge chamfer ending in a run out stop at the centre line of the upper floor, constructed of brick with flint panels, this seems to be due to the former presence of a yard to the north (see NHER 40198).
(S1) is probably correct in dating building to the early 19th century.
Note strange polygonal shape of no 10 as shown by Ordnance Survey.
E. Rose (NLA), 5 March 2004.
