Full Description
2004. Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey.
Norfolk Ancient Woodland Historic Environment Rapid Identification Survey Pilot Study.
Strumpshaw Wood:
Limited remains of boundary banks, with some substantial extractive pits.
Unconvincing earthworks, but superb site for overview of Yare valley!
See report (S1) for further information, including detailed descriptions of the individual features identified (Contexts 1-4). The results of this survey are also summarised in (S2).
B. Cushion, June 2004. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 29 June 2015.
November 2021. Broads Hidden Heritage: Aerial Perspectives.
The probably post medieval and modern boundary banks and extraction pits described above are at least partially visible as earthworks on visualised lidar data (S3).
S. Tremlett (Norfolk County Council, Historic Environment Service), 04 November 2021.
