Summary

In 2004 two scatters of prehistoric flint artefacts were found during fieldwalking, along with burnt flints, a piece of possible Roman pottery and medieval and post medieval pottery and metalwork. Bronze Age and Iron Age features and prehistoric finds were discovered during the subsequent evaluation excavation.

November 2003. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey and Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of Cringleford Park and Ride site. Field survey (Contexts 1 to 113) followed by excavation of twenty-seven trenches (Contexts 114 to 527).
Finds recoverd during the field survey included two scatters of prehistoric flint artefacts, along with burnt flints, a piece of possible Roman pottery and medieval and post-medival pottery and metalwork.
Trial trenching revealed evidence of prehistoric activity constituting pits and post holes dating to the Neolithic, Bronze Age and Iron Age periods, and many features included worked flint and prehistoric pottery.
