Summary

Field boundaries and trackways of probable post medieval date are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Although the field boundaries are not shown on the consulted historic maps, they conform to the general pattern of enclosure depicted on these. One of the trackways is shown on Faden's and Bryant's maps of Norfolk.

Map

March 2004, Norfolk NMP
Field boundaries and trackways of probable post-medieval date are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-4), centred at TG 2441 3655. A trackway, aligned north-west to south-east and visible (from TG 2419 3659 to TG 2440 3654) as a surface bounded by ditches and a bank, is probably the remains of the road depicted on both Faden's and Bryant's maps of Norfolk (S5-6). The remainder of the features, principally single-ditched field boundaries but with some double-ditched boundaries or trackways, are not on the consulted historic maps but conform to the general pattern of post-medieval field boundaries shown on historic Ordnance Survey maps (S7). Medieval and post-medieval finds (NHER 6754) as well as earlier material (e.g. NHER 35148) have been recovered from the area.
