Summary

Metal detecting in 2002 to 2003 recovered a prehistoric flint flake, some medieval pottery sherds and a large lump of undated iron slag. Further metal-detecting in 2018 recovered a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead.

2002-2003. Metal detecting amongst late post medieval and recent metal objects. Finders' field SC18.
Undatable prehistoric small secondary flake of mottled grey flint, weathered cortex.
Left edge damaged and tip worn. P. A. Robins (NCM) identified 23 October 2003.
One jar rim and two body sherds medieval unglazed pottery. 13-14th century (26g).
Two fragments medieval ceramic roofing tile. 14th-15th century (15g).
Large (550mm diameter) lump of iron slag. ?Smithing, date uncertain, found in ditch on south edge of field.
