Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking at this location between 2001 and 2015 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; post-medieval clay tobacco pipe and bottle glass fragments; Roman, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval coins; post-medieval tokens and a number of other metal objects of Roman to post-medieval date. These metal finds include a Roman finger ring; an Early Saxon annular brooch and a wrist clasp; medieval buckles, a thimble, scabbard chape, copper alloy needle and lead weights; a medieval/post-medieval leash swivel, purse frame fragment, copper alloy suspension rings, lead weight and lead counter or weight; post-medieval buckles, buttons, crotal bell fragments, thimbles, mounts, furniture fittings, a blunt-hooked dress clasp, possible pendant, watch winder, copper alloy tacks, copper alloy disc, lead cloth seals, lead weights, lead counter or weight, lead bag seal, lead toy figure and iron horseshoe and a modern military button.

February 2014. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey undertaken as part of evaluation of proposed development site. Finds recovered included:
Undated unidentified copper alloy objects, numerous pieces of lead waste, an unidentified lead object, possible lead weight and iron nails.
2 Roman pottery sherds.
2 medieval coins, 2 pottery sherds and buckles.
Medieval/post-medieval leash swivel, copper alloy suspension rings, lead weight and lead counter or weight.
5 post-medieval coins, 3 tokens, 13 pottery sherds, 5 clay tobacco pipe fragments, 4 bottle glass fragments, buckles, buttons, crotal bell fragments, thimbles, mounts, a possible pendant, watch winder, keyhole cover, copper alloy tacks, copper alloy disc, copper alloy and lead furniture handles, lead cloth seals, lead weights, lead counter or weight, lead bag seal, lead toy figure, and iron horseshoe.
