The house is in fact much more complex than the above external description suggests. It began as a timber framed three cell house with offcentre stack, of the early 17th century, and was partly rebuilt, and extended, in the late 17th century with timber frame and brick firegable. Front of older section rebuilt in brick in late 18th century, remainder refaced in 19th century.
