Full Description
1988. Field Observation [1].
The remains of a building were noted within a large bramble bush. The nature of the building is uncertain as it was completely obscured by the vegetation.
Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 29 June 2014.
April 2004. Field Observation [2].
The building was partially revealed and identified as a pillbox built into a bank below the road, currently on the edge of a waste field on a concessionary footpath. The pillbox has brick shuttering, part decayed, with two square loopholes on the northern side and a door on the east. It appears to have a blast wall inside but the interior was inaccessible.
E. Rose (NLA), 13 April 2004.
Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 29 June 2014.
February 2013. Building survey.
A detailed survey was undertaken in order to produce a measured plan of the pillbox and a drawing of the north elevation (S1).
The structure was identified as a local variant of a square type 26 pillbox and a third loophole was identified on the west. The pillbox is part of an extensive system of fortification around Weybourne and several other pillboxes survive nearby, including NHER 32473, NHER 32474, NHER 31942, and NHER 3228.
H. Hamilton (HES), 29 June 2014.
