Summary

Metal-detecting between 2002 and 2021 recovered Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Iron Age, Roman and medieval coins and Late Bronze Age, Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead; a Roman brooch, harness fitting and spoon; a medieval harness mount, purse bar, buckle and lead weight; a medieval/post-medieval buckle and copper alloy vessel fragment and a post-medieval button, harness mount, spur fragment, coin weight, bridle boss and crotal bell.

2002-2003. Metal-detecting.
Post-medieval copper alloy bridle boss with openwork fleur-de-lis in centre and two attachment holes. Diameter 62-64mm. Traces of white metal coating on front and reverse. Almost identical in form, surface decoration and size to an example from Harbertonford, Devon, illustrated and described as no.1010 in (S1), which is dated 17th century.
