Summary

Human skeletal remains were uncovered during works at the rear of a former Post Office in 2004. It seems the Post Office's back garden has encroached on the graveyard of St Margaret's Church (NHER 8857).

Map

May 2004. Former Post Office.
Disarticulated human remains (skull, long bones) found in the excavation of service trenches immediately to the rear of the former Post Office. The garden of the former Post Office appears to have encroached upon the churchyard (see for example the tithe map of 1839), and reduced levels to form the garden/patio (hence these remains are now at shallow depth). To be reburied in the churchyard.
D. Gurney (NLA), 7 May 2004.
