Previously NHER 9200 context 27.

July 1985. Stray Find.
Found on site of housing development, in soil spilling through garden fence:
1 medieval pottery sherd (medieval unglazed).
Object deposited with the Norfolk Museums Service (NWHCM: 1985.252)
Information recorded in HER Records Notes (S1).
A. Rogerson (NLA), July 1985.

Plot opposite on south side of Marsh Lane at TM 0873 9025 revealed no archaeological finds or features, indicating that this plot, adjacent to the south boundary ditch of the town, was never built over.

October 1996. Trial Trenching.
Excavations revealed the southern defensive ditch to the town (NHER 41233). The finds indicate that there was some accumulation of refuse within the Town Ditch, albeit in small quantities. Pottery from the later fills indicates that the backfilling of the ditch probably occurred in the 15th or 16th century.
See report (S2) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S3) and (S4).
A. Cattermole (NLA), 20th July 2004.
