Summary

Archaeological excavation revealed several deep post medieval cellars and dumps of post medieval material. The digging of the cellars probably destroyed all archaeological evidence for the planned medieval town.

July 1995. Trial Trenching.
Excavation of three trenches revealed dumped post-medieval building materials. At the northern end of the site deep post-medieval cellar excavation has removed earlier archaeological deposits. It is unlikely that positive evidence of medieval activity survives on this site.
