The site of a possible enclosure has been identified from aerial photographs at this location (S2-S3), however the archaeological nature of these cropmarks is extremely uncertain and the site may relate to relatively recent activity in the field. The site is centred on TG 2797 0402. In June 1976 there is a possible agricultural feature that follows the exact shape of the 'enclosure' and the area around it is sunken and lighter colour (S3). This suggests that the possible enclosure could in its entirety relate to a relatively modern feature. However it is feasible that the linear ditches running across the site it are archaeological (S2), but this seems potentially unlikely, given the appearance of the site in 1976.
S. Horlock (NMP), 21 December 2009.
