Map

April 2003. NMP.
A single, modern (World War Two) type 22 pillbox, visible as a structure on 1946 RAF vertical aerial photographs.
The feature appears to be in relative isolation, within the centre of a field (S1-S2), although it was presumably positioned to defend the approach to North Runcton from the north, along the A47. There is no sign of a worn path or track to the structure, and it has presumably been abandoned for a considerable period by 1946 (S1-S2). The date of the demolition of the structure is unknown, but it has certainly gone by 1961 (S3).
M. Brennand (NMP), 28 April 2003.
