Full Description
May 2003. NMP.
A series of undated linear features and a possible but dubious rectangular enclosure, visible as cropmarks on 1988 Ordnance Survey vertical aerial photographs.
Multiple potential linear features are visible, largely aligned in east to west and north to south directions (S1 and S2). Within the centre of the field are two right-angled lengths of ditch that may form the northwest and southeast corners of an approximately square enclosure. These features are indistinct and ill-defined and some of them may actually be influenced by the underlying geology or modern drainage. The linear features are probably field boundaries, of an unknown date, but probably representing more than one phase of land division. Some of the linear features may be forming an enclosure or field but this may be a coincidence and it is by no means certain that all of the elements of the alleged enclosure are contemporaneous.
M. Brennand (NMP), 2 June 2003.
