Full Description
July 2003. NMP.
There are two possible circular stack bases at TF 6308 1828 and TF 6312 1826 (S1). Each is represented by a narrow ditch with a ringwork bank on the inside and a central level or sunken area. Each has a diameter of 12m. These are probable post-medieval stack stands. There is also a sub-rectangular feature at TF 6314 1828, with its long axis aligned in an approximate east to west direction. The feature is probably defined by a single ditch, with a possible raised area within, and has a length of 25m and width of 14m. This might possibly be a stack base or stack enclosure, and may be late Post-medieval or even modern. There appears to be some relatively straight and narrow ridge and furrow type features in the area, although these may simply be modern plough furrows. These features have not been mapped.
M. Brennand (NMP), 21 July 2003.
