Map

August 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated, possibly Iron Age to Roman and medieval to post medieval ditches, field boundaries and enclosures centred on TG35522943 are visible on aerial photographs (S1). Three possible, incomplete rectilinear enclosures are present within this group of cropmarks. Two possible overlapping enclosures, both represented only by two adjacent sides, are centred on TG35612939. The largest of these measures at least 55m by 34m with the smaller one being at least 30m by 24m. A third possble incomplete enclosure, measuring at least 25m by 22m, is located at TG35802932. The dating of these enclosures is not certain and is is equally possible that the may belong to the Iron Age to Roman or medieval to post medieval periods. The majority of the linear ditches are undated. However, some, such as at TG35402946, are aligned parallel to field boundaries shown on the East Ruston tithe map and later maps (S2) making it likely that they also represent medieval to post medieval field boundaries. A possible ring ditch cropmark is located within this group of cropmarks (NHER 38706). Further ditch, field boundary and enclosure cropmarks are recorded to the west, north and northeast (NHER 38708, NHER 38709, NHER 38711, and NHER 21774).
(S1 and 2).
