Full Description
August 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of a medieval to post medieval road are visible on aerial photographs ((S1) to (S2)). A ditch-defined road is intermittently visible for 570m between TG 3855 2995 and TG 3897 2959. Parts of the line of the road appear to have become hollowed through use. This road appears on Faden's 1797 map of Norfolk (S3) and Bryant's 1826 map (S4). However it is not marked on the 1834 Happisburgh tithe map (S5) or later maps. Cropmarks showing a continuation of this road to the north are recorded as NHER 38777. Artefacts possibly associated with the southern section of road are recorded under NHER 17351.
J. Albone (NMP), 19 August 2004.
